Lamin Fofana & Old Money – Ethiopia b/w Nāga

Old Money & Lamin Fofana collaborate in the first of a series of three releases for an examination of mysteries as articulated through fresh and distinct African Caribbean lenses. Produced in the immigrant hub of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, "Ethiopia” and “Nāga" nods to black secret technology, ancient civilizations, Haile Selassie, and various strands of diasporic influences, all funneled through hard, 4th world electronics. The lush pads and regal horns of “Ethiopia” feels like the sky clearing for an arrival while “Nāga” conjures the esoteric leanings of Wu-Tang and Jay Electronica, the funky house sounds of London, and Nuwaubians selling What Will Happen In Y2K scrolls on Rockaway Parkway circa the mid-nineties.
