Big shout out to the people from Tunes on Bunch.TV, they put together this very nice concert film of Jahdan and myself, Matt Shadetek, performing at the Stadtgarten in Cologne. It was the first night it had really snowed on the tour and I remember we ended up having to walk back to the hotel with our stuff after trying to get a cab for about 45 minutes through the streets full of wasted people who had all just gotten out of various clubs and bars into the new snow. Big shoutout to Uh-Young Kim who put the show on and all the people who braved the elements to come rock with us, we had a great time.

ALSO me and Jahdan are planning to come back out to Europe in June, if you’d like to have us play in your town get in touch via bookings AT duttyartz DOTT com.

This just landed in my inbox, a big dubstep mix of a new dub tune by foundation artist U-Roy produced by Dub Gabriel. Ming of Ming & FS and Subatomic Sound System teamed up on the remix and it sounds tuff, downloadable below.  There’s also a cool little video with Ming and Emch of Subatomic talking about the process of making the remix and breaking down the remixing process, talking some arranging science for dancefloors and more, always cool to see people pulling back the curtain and helping to share the knowledge.

Friend of Dutty Artz Timeblind also turned in a mix which is a little deeper (as you will expect by now if you know the man) and very nice but not downloadable, you’ll have to buy that one.

“Lee Perry’s ‘Blackboard Jungle: From Dub to Dubstep'”

1973, Jamaica.  2009, to the world!  The story of the seminal dub album “Blackboard Jungle” from Lee Scratch Perry and King Tubby that was cornerstone of the dub music craze that would extend around the world.  In 2009 Vienna’s dub masters Dubblestandart called on Perry to revisit the vibes.  This collaboration stretched around the globe to involve New York City’s dub scientists Subatomic Sound System & rising reggae vocal talent Jahdan Blakkamoore, and resulted in the first ever original dubstep tunes from Lee Scratch Perry plus a journey back into the Blackboard Jungle!

The Spit Brothers – Roll And Tumble (Bakir And Dubsworth’s VIP Mix)

Amazing new release from Dubs Alive! This is the B-side, pure sweetness, guitar, melodica rolling on top some clean/almost too perfect subs, great drums & percussion sounds too! West Coast badman DZ (I have been enjoying his tunes for a good minute now) blessed the A-side with two rootsy riddims, and “Jah Prayer” is excellent, absolutely marvelous.  Check for the Spits Brothers “Roll and Tumble” original version here, along with their other great tunes. Also, keep an eye out for Bakir and Dubsworth.

jahdan_general

A grimy mix of hip-hop, dancehall, electronic, dubstep, and pretty much anything else with chest-caving bass, Brooklyn’s Jahdan Blakkamoore is a vocalist who’s taking that pan-global headknock from neon-coated Philadelphia warehouses back to NYC, where cohort DJ/Rupture kicked this shit off almost a decade ago. It helps that he’s dragging it kicking and screaming through the streets. Blakkamoore’s Buzzrock Warrior has a hip-hop-centric noir feel that matches the darker, moodier topics it covers:…

Head over to the Village Voice blog SOUND OF THE CITY to read the feature on Jahdan and download an MP3 of “The General (Remix)” featuring Smif-N-Wessun’s General Steele.

Props to all involved, the artists/producers – Shadetek, Rupture, Geko, Klash, Spoek, Nate Mars, Joker, Subatomic Sound System, and let’s not forget Moonraker International Super-Phonic Hi-Fi Field Marshall No Partial Sound System Collective! ha.

For the last few months, Jahdan has been constantly, sonically bombing the internet with quality heat.  If you think the tracks on Bazooka Shot were crazy, just wait until you hear the album. Better yet, head over to iTunes, where you can preview and buy the first single from the album Buzzrock Warrior.  The single is called “She Said”and it features 77klash.  Jahdan’s voice is beautiful and pure on this one, but the beat and the bass are shifty, and Klash spits some cryptic, classic lines on this.  The album comes out September 15th (9/14 for those in the UK!), which is just around the corner. Get hustlin, get ready!
