Bombeat

This Friday the Bombeat crew and myself are excited to hold it down at The House of Yes, an amazing event space, and non-profit organization located in Bushwick, Brooklyn.  We are  looking forward to hosting Quantic aka Will Holland, a man of various diverse musical projects.  If you are unfamiliar with his work, do yourself a favor and dig into his wide selection of productions created over the past decade.

Tra Ba EP CoverWe travel in circles. Our lives move in cycles. Our dreams spin us around. This is something that artist Rafi El understands intuitively. Through his life and music, he’s been constantly circling back to the source of his creativity, the mountains of South America – long a source of cultural wealth and shamanic power. Raised by parents from Argentina’s historical Jewish communities, Rafi was born in Israel and grew up in Los Angeles, where he currently lives. His earliest days were steeped in the sounds and cultures of three continents.

In anticipation of the release of Rafi El’s debut full length album this summer, Dutty Artz releases the lead single “Tra Ba” as a free EP:

Last week me and Atropolis played at the launch party for the new Dub Stuy record label and their home built reggae sound system.  Playing on this system was really really fun.  Physical sound vibrations, great bass and a great vibe. Big shoutout to the Dub Stuy team for having the vision to put this together.  We need more people thinking big like this in our underground scene in Brooklyn.

Fresh off playing out in Milan along with Venus X and many months flitting about the world Dutty Artz own Chief Boima rejoins us to make you sweat. This episode of the party we’re doing as a fundraiser to pay for a much overdue re-vamp of the Dutty Artz website. All you need to do is come and get drunker than you usually do and you’ll be contributing to a good cause. Myself Matt Shadetek, Atropolis, Taliesin and Lamin Fofana will soundtrack that for you.

We’re slothing out hard this Sweat Lodge with a special guest from Newark, New Jersey: DJ Sliink.  Sliink is part of the prolific Brick Bandits Crew who have been carrying the torch for Jersey club music movement in fine style. Boima saw Sliink killing shit at SXSW this year and recommended that I invite him to Sweat Lodge and the rest will be history (soon!)  He’ll be joined by yours truly (Matt Shadetek), Atropolis and Taliesin.

Here’s a taste, float to this while you wait:
