This Friday I’ll be playing at my current favorite party in NYC, Turrbotax. I really like what Contakt and the Turrbotax crew have put together there. They’re playing a really cool blend of new dance music and it’s always a fun hype atmosphere. Free beer by Asahi from 11-12 doesn’t hurt either. I’m especially pleased about this Friday’s Turrbotax Business Edition since I’ll be playing with Mosca of Night Slugs. Mosca produced the 10 minute post-funky epic ‘Nike’ which really got my ears open last year. I expect this to be one to remember so please do come out and sweat with us.

Sunday May 9th come see myself Matt Shadetek, Jahdan Blakkamoore and Uproot Andy at Glasslands for the Drink Well Do Good tour. The goal of the event is to raise awareness about viticulture (wine making) in Africa. It will also be a great Sunday night party with the Dutty Artz fam back at Glasslands for the first time since our New York Tropical parties. For everyone who has been asking me about those, don’t worry, we’re working on a few things for summer.
The organizers ISAW say: “All proceeds from the tour will go towards to development of a viticultural training center on the M’hudi Estate in Stellenbosch. This campaign also raises awareness for our partners M’hudi and Seven Sisters, South Africa’s only two black-owned estates. ISAW is using the tour to introduce these wines to consumers, and support South Africa’s wine industry which employs nearly 300,000 workers. Please support our campaign through purchasing tickets, going to your local retailer, and becoming ambassadors for our cause.”
New York Ravers, next weekend come get dutty with me on Saturday night at an underground party in Soho details here. Thanks to everyone who came out to Oceans of Blood and skanked out this past Friday, great party. Seems like I’m getting asked more and more to play at these underground jams in informal locations more and more, I’m really happy to see them happening again after many years of being verrrry bored going to regular clubs in NYC. Support these events and let’s keep ‘em happening.
This Friday I will be swimming the Oceans of Blood with former Change Agent homies Orien McNeill and Zack Shadetek on a fundraiser for their crazy boat project. Open bar and a fake blood slip and slide and me djing from 11-1AM What more do you want, really?
Late night this SATURDAY, Washington D.C. DUTTY ARTZ rolls deep: Me, Matt Shadetek, and Jahdan Blakkamoore live pon di mic. We’re hoping Michelle & the girls will make it out of the White House for this one. This is the 1st time I’ve ever played D.C. so let’s get sweaty.
Here are some photos from Tormenta Tropical at SXSW. I don’t have time to write a long post but suffice to say I was honored to play with all these great people and have such a great party. You are all legendary and I love you. Photos by El Subcomandante Quito, full album here.

This evening, Matt Shadetek and I are participating in REPRESENTING NYC’s ¿REAL BUSHWICK / BUSHWICK RÉAL? – a brand new Brooklyn-based, Bushwick-focused performance series. Tomorrow I’ll be DJing at a benefit show along with DJ Small Change for an art project which two of my long time friends, including former collaborator Zack Shadetek have been working on. The show is a benefit to raise money for Swimming Cities trip down the Ganges river in India.
From the press release:
Taking a new waterway each year our projects create a vivid community of artists floating into towns to present an interactive environment which encompasses art, sculpture, music and performance. The uncommon talents of our members interact in an organic design process in a unique form of living art. Our previous projects include THE SWIMMING CITIES OF SWITCHBACK SEA on the Hudson River for Deitch Projects and THE SWIMMING CITIES OF SERENISSIMA across the Adriatic Sea for the Venice Biennale.
Basically they build these crazy ass art-boats and float them down various rivers while living on them and doing performances and freaking people out. There are a bunch of good artists, many who are also friends who will be having a silent auction of donated works to raise funding for the project. And there’s an open bar.

Big shout out to the people from Tunes on Bunch.TV, they put together this very nice concert film of Jahdan and myself, Matt Shadetek, performing at the Stadtgarten in Cologne. It was the first night it had really snowed on the tour and I remember we ended up having to walk back to the hotel with our stuff after trying to get a cab for about 45 minutes through the streets full of wasted people who had all just gotten out of various clubs and bars into the new snow. Big shoutout to Uh-Young Kim who put the show on and all the people who braved the elements to come rock with us, we had a great time.
ALSO me and Jahdan are planning to come back out to Europe in June, if you’d like to have us play in your town get in touch via bookings AT duttyartz DOTT com.
I’m joining DJ Still Life tonight (10pm to midnight) on his weekly radio show Worldwide Smash on East Village Radio. At some point in the first hour of the program, I’ll be selecting new beats and bass from round the globe, might even drop a live set, so tune in - Worldwide Smash - weekly vetting of global bass music, Worldwide Smash delivers a double dose of raw beats: from instrumental hip-hop, dubstep and glitch through emerging forms of electronic music aimed…
After the program, we’re off to Que Bajo?! @ Santos Party House with international playboys Geko Jones & Uproot Andy for some serious bashment!
