Chief Boima‘s Techno Rumba EP is available now on iTunes, at Amazon and Boomkat! Read more about it + show some class & drop some change, people!
Techno Rumba is the excellent, official debut EP from San Francisco/Bay Area producer Chief Boima. Techno Rumba, the latest in a stream of digital EPs from Dutty Artz, is a pleasantly fresh and elegant take on Afrobeat and contemporary African dance music. It features two original tracks from Chief Boima; the irresistible “Baobab Connect” and the stunning title cut “Techno Rumba,” which boasts a pair of remixes from Dutty Artz own DJ /rupture & Matt Shadetek and Uproot Andy. /Rupture and Shadetek are fresh off remixing Gang Gang Dance and Telepathe and turn in an immersive and hallucinogenic afro-colombian flavored edit while Uproot Andy aims straight at the dance floor with his Ojalá Rumba version which has been inciting madness at Dutty Artz New York Tropical parties for months. New York Ravers, next weekend come get dutty with me on Saturday night at an underground party in Soho details here. Thanks to everyone who came out to Oceans of Blood and skanked out this past Friday, great party. Seems like I’m getting asked more and more to play at these underground jams in informal locations more and more, I’m really happy to see them happening again after many years of being verrrry bored going to regular clubs in NYC. Support these events and let’s keep ‘em happening.
Ernest Gonzales, the man behind the wrestling mask/moniker Mexicans with Guns sent this one over earlier today. “Me Gusto” is raw, a terrific dancefloor scorcher. Purchase the vinyl or mp3 package which dropped today w/ Chico Mann on vocals and Ghosts On Tape remixing on the flip.
Dutty Artz extended family tree and recent Trouble and Bass artist 77Klash has a new leak for us via RCRDLBL with the stream and free download below. Check it out, Klash is heading off in an interesting, deadpan-dance direction. Produced by Sando Khan from Fort Green. BK Bashment let’s get it!
Weird new video from Nguzunguzu feat. Leilah Weinraub for the track “Got U” which is off the brilliant free Nguzunguzu EP –still up for grabs, so get it in your life.
New video from Erykah Badu featuring Lil Wayne “Jump Up In The Air (Stay There)” from her upcoming album New Amerykah Part II: Return Of The Ankh – You already know this is a great song, but pay close attention to the lyrics and you’ll appreciate it even more; plenty memorable lines – (hip-hop) “church never felt this good before,” “my level, far from the devil/have some manners, and say hello to the angels,” “I am on the ceiling stuck like a fan full of dust, like a fist full of bucks…” etc. As for the video, it has stunning moments; Wayne clearing a cloud of purple smoke to “elevate” with Ms. Badu is one of those.
New video for Schlachthof Bronx and big Spoek Mathambo’s new joint ‘Ayoba’ from their Ayoba EP on Man Recordings. Love the low-fi video, blankets, cardboard cutouts lets gooooooooo!
EDIT: And here’s the track as a legit free download:
Alright, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to One Step Beyond. We’re going to keep this simple and straightforward; the first person to email family [at] duttyartz.com with the correct answer to the following question wins a pair of ticket to the show; What was the first joint-release from DJ Rupture and Matt Shadetek/Team Shadetek?
You must also include “One Step Beyond Ticket Giveway” in the subject line.
Lucky Dragons’ performances overturn conventions of electronic music with generosity and grace. On Monday October 12, they will join DJ Rupture to share sounds and discuss the relationship between social and sonic experimentation, Los Angeles, erasing the barriers between performer and audience, and more.
(Also, something I’m aware of but completely forgot to mention:) Lucky Dragons opened for Thom Yorke’s new band debut (both nights) in L.A. last week!! You know, that new band that also features Flea of Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Thanks to Big Brother Rupture for the reminder!
Subscribe to the Mudd Up! podcast if you want downloadable versions: , Mudd Up!RSS. Listen, get involved, throw in comments, questions. Again, Mondays @ 7PM.
The album drops September 15th, and on the 17th Que Bajo?! is throwing a party with special live performance by Jahdan, accompanied by super producer extraordinaire and deejay Matt Shadetek. Jahdan & Matt are also getting ready for some touring and special performances later this Fall and into the Winter. Dates and details will be here soon. For now, come enjoy the party! On the same night, we are also blessed with the appearance of the great Eddie Stats of The FADER and GHETTO PALMS series. Eddie Stats is sharp, efficient, and just ridiculously good behind the decks. DJ Rekha of Basement Bhangra will also be live with tunes for the all around dance floor massacre. Dutty Artz family/Que Bajo?! resident deejays/two of the wickedest sound men I know Geko Jones and Uproot Andy will be in the building serving their usual, tremendous heat, along with some blazing refixes. facebook RSVP here.
Available now at Boomkat, eMusic, Juno, and other digital download stores, in MP3, WAV, and FLAC formats, a new release from Dutty Artz by a powerful vocalist/musician Mariana Yegros. The original track “Trocitos De Madera” produced by King Coya is followed by some extra-special remixes from DJ /rupture and Matt Shadetek, El Remolon, and Marcelo Fabian, throwing the pieces in other exciting directions, with fantastic results.
