It took me a while to get this out, longer than I’d like considering it’s on my own label but now it’s out and it feels GOOD! I love completing projects. But it’s not done! Now I have to actually sell some copies! Good friend and fellow bass fiend The Crooked Clef has the best taste of any of the bloggers writing over at Trash Menagerie. He also does serious damage behind his Traktor pulled decks. He has been putting out a semi-regular series called Trash in the Bassment- check last edition’s tropical deluge for confirmation of the mans skills and taste. His latest goes all house-y in that way that I get embarrassed about loving. But believe- this is a HEAVY HEAVY mix that I can imagine going off at Night Slugs or any of the other gutter house/heavy bass parties that you can find out in the wide wide world. Below find Vol VI

April fools, they’re not really, but that actually happened to me in junior high school and was terrible. One week from tonight NYC it’s a wednesday night sweat-out courtesy of the great Thanh of Unit One and the Broken Teeth Crew featuring Your’s Truly. What will I play? I have no idea, but it will be magically delicious, I promise.
New DJ mix from me, Matt Shadetek, that I put together to promote our party next Friday Mar. 27th at Glasslands in Brooklyn. The mix is called “Get Drunk and Lose Your Phone”, which is precisely what I expect you to come out and do with us next week. Don’t worry, you’ll get another one and probably find that cute girl’s number again, maybe. I included tracks from Kingdom and Uproot Andy who will both be playing, along with some stuff by me of course. The first tune is a brand new exclusive 4×4 Tropical remix of The Dream’s “Rockin’ That Shit” that I just made. I love The Dream, his new album is great and is apparently doing really well. If you had told me a few years ago I would be listening to and making housey R+B I would have laughed in your face. Ha! Here we are in 2009. Anyway, enjoy the mix, it’s the third installment in our Dutty Artz Podcast, following Lamin’s Recession Rap Mix.

New dutty house 140bpm bassline remix of Jahdan’s Go Round Payola, by me, Matt Shadetek up now. I picked up the tempo and added that bassline whizz and squelch for maximum 3AM drunk bouncing. It’s the Bye Haters mix, free download exclusive for RCRDLBL, fuck with it.
First, here’s an all Steve Gurley mix I’ve been listening to quite a lot lately. I am flagrantly ripping this from the dubstepforum, where it was ripped from Uptown Music Forum, where it was posted about a year ago. The mix was done by someone named AverageJoe, an ordinary DJ with a funny Homer Simpson gif as his MySpace default.
The first is of Mr Eliel Lucero skankin’ (to some really good Roots music Matt was playing earlier in the night) in his brand new Dutty Artz tee! Get yours!
And here I am, standing around (yeah, i’m mad bcuz i’m only) in my plain old regular tee— waiting for that lite tropical pink.
And here’s Yellowman, AKA Geko Jones. This man spins and dances behind the decks like a mutha, (but then again, he falls into a state of deep concentration at times.) I’m not sure who’s the better dancer behind the decks, Matt or Gex? I don’t think Rupture dances behind his decks. Maga Bo doesn’t either. Well, I’ve never seen them dance behind their turntables anyway. Have you? If you have, I need photo-or videographic evidence of these two men getting down.
DATV is very proud to present DATV#003: Dexplicit at Trouble & Bass. T&B brought Dexplicit to play at Love in NYC and we were there to film the mayhem. It was a great party. Dex ripped it up with a banging set of bassline/niche tunes, the T&B crew dropped their own blend of 4×4, dubstep, club hotness whatever (not quite sure what to call what they’re playing nowadays) and the ravers LOVED IT UP. A couple days later me and Rupture met up with Dex and Star Eyes for some shopping and an interview. Check it:
Dex is a great guy and was very cool to talk to, he had a lot of interesting stuff to say. We had to cut it way down to keep the piece moving but for the hardcore heads who want to hear EVERYTHING he had to say you will be able to catch the full version on the DATV DVD later this year. The video starts with a killer Dexplicit remix of DTL alter ego Curses! “What I Need” that will be out soon on Trouble & Bass. Check their website for more info on releases, parties etc.
Big shouts to the whole Trouble and Bass crew, Drop The Lime, Star Eyes, Math Head, The Captain and my boy Zack Shadetek, Dexplicit, the photographer who goes by Madaes on flickr (wicked pictures bro) and all the ravers who were there raving. AND if you’ve been listening to Rupture’s radio show you may heard the excellent “Language Removal Services” piece played by his guest, poet Caroline Bergvall, in which they take people reading or speaking and remove everything but the silences between words, umm, uhh, ehhs, etc. Inspired, DJ Empirical went and made one out of the show where Rupture broadcast a longer version of our Dexplicit interview as audio. Want to listen to Jace and Dex umm and ehh and wow for a bit? Here, now you can. It’s pretty funny, and wierd. The show is now podcasting here, and you can also check out the WICKED mix that Dex did for the show, broadcast the week before he appeared.

Check out the DA family repping at NYC’s original and best dubstep night Dub War. DJ /Rupture, Geko Jones and Jahdan pon mic. It was a wicked night, the sound was booming, the vibes were strong and Rupture dropped a whole bunch of exxxclusive Dutty material including a bunch of tunes by myself. Check the video and watch my Can’t Breathe Remix fuck up the place when it drops. Starting the episode is new producer Cauto from Barcelona’s Bona Vida another BIG tune that will be out very soon, along with the Can’t Breathe Remix on our first release DA00 DUTTY REMIX ZERO 12″.
