#RepresentingNYC teams up with Dutty Artz

The Dutty Artz crew is always thinking about new ways to connect with the music and artistic communities that surround us both in New York and in the various places we end up around the world. That’s why when Sam Hilmer approached us about helping support his Representing NYC project, an attempt to bridge the divides between artists on different sides of Brooklyn’s gentrification gaps, we jumped at the chance to really represent for our immediate surrounding areas.

Read more about Representing NYC in an interview with Sam on the Tiny Mixtapes website. To kick off the partnership, Sam will be guest blogging here to feature different artists who are involved with RNYC as they put together songs and videos, and down the line various members of the Dutty Artz camp will collaborate with RNYC artists in various forms. In the meantime, check out the cipher of RNYC artists that I dj’ed for a few weeks ago, using mostly Dutty in-house beats (with one exception being Murlo’s dancehall re-work of Brooklyn native Fabolous’ Can’t Let You Go.)

And going ahead, check out the current, past, and future RNYC activity on the Dutty Artz blog!
