We’re pleased to announce the 12″ release of “The General” the first single from Jahdan’s Buzzrock Warrior album, coming this fall. The release is a collaboration with the Liondub International label which is only fitting since Liondub and I built the riddim for “The General” together. Liondub has also enlisted two of his friends Marcus Visionary and Noah D. on remix duties and they turned out two dutty dubstep mixes. Both of them have been coming with a lot of fire lately all over the place. This is a UK pressing so it will be easier to find over there but some copies will be arriving stateside soon. Downloads will be available before too long but currently the release is vinyl only.
last time I played with Kevin The Bug in Berlin it was a very. fun. party. The Bug mashed it up, i got grimey, and Modeselektor + Paul St. Hillaire performed one of my favorite ‘live’ electronic sets ever.
this event should be lively as well… Next day (Saturday May 30th) I’ll be playing @ Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival, same stage as folks like Ghostface Killah, A-Trak, and Lemonade! craziness indeed.
Another installation in his excellent and informative mini-doc series, musician and documentarian Maga Bo interviews Ghislain Poirier – he talks about his background, making collaborations and building bridges, exoticism and problems with authenticity, and a lot more.
Bo sez -
With this series of mini-docs, I want to demystify the music production process a bit and bring out the humanity of it. After all, music is a manifestation of history. of choices and relationships. This is common to any art, discipline, individual, group or society. Through communication, real and imaginary differences and similarities become clearer. Separatist ghetto exoticism cannot exist in this space. Tamu juntos e misturados.
You can check the rest of the mini-docs (DJ/rupture, Daniel Haaksman, MC Gringo, Diplo, Fletcher from African Dope, Eritbu Agegnehu Askenaw, Xuman and Keyti) here on Vimeo (better quality) and here on Youtube.
Over at Manhattan’s APT, Geko Jones & Uproot Andy are holding it down for another episode of Que Bajo, everyone’s favorite tropicaliente afrocolombian bass whumpathon.
And at Williamburg’s Glasslands, Kingdom is throwing a Club Vortex party – where hosts outnumber performers! But the performers include House of Ladosha. “They are Crunk / Vogue / Terror” explains Kingdom.

In spite of the difficult economic situation, the majority of rappers are still rapping/bragging about getting money and about spending it. You can check his myspace for more, but this is the dopest tune there.
It turns out Lil B’s “My Baby” wasn’t an isolated instance of lunacy but just one small part of a grand experiment. The 19 year old Pack frontman currently maintains 114 myspace pages… all launched over roughly the last eight months and each showcasing five or six original songs and freestyles.
The pages are numbered chronologically and listening to them in order is like reading an abandoned space journal, a slow descent into madness. Except it’s the good kind of madness.
read more! it’s hard to fathom. There’s a greater narrative to explore here (ref. Lil Wayne) about what happens when a compulsion for content outstrips all editorial filters. FWIW, Shoot the Bitch Bra sounds like ‘golden era’ Lenny Dee / Industrial Strength. And not The Pack.
Friday, May 1st @ Public Assembly in Brooklyn. Agriculture Records is having a showcase party as part of the long-running Bunker night! Should be lively. I’ll be playing/debuting a bunch of exclusive stuff including a heap of remixes and beats Matt Shadetek & I have been cooking up.
here are a few youtube videos I have been meaning to post the last few days -
First up, Obama Chia pet commercial – We already know that one of the few growth areas in the American economy at the moment is Obama memorabilia. So this one comes as no surprise, though it is inappropriate and hilarious – not as much as the kids in Times Square selling Obama Condoms to tourists (“Get your Obama Condoms” and “We got extra-smalls”) or the Obama tees I saw people wearing in DC a few days ago, at the Smithsonian of all places. It seems to be all about hot dogs and ice cream and Obama memorabilia down at the Mall.
Second, SkipScreen – A Firefox extension which eleminates the unnecessary wait time when downloading files from zShare, Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc. You still get pop-ups from zShare and other host sites but they’re still working it, and if you’re not interested in purchasing a premium account with thise hosting sites, you’ll appreciate SkipScreen.
And last, Mos Def recites DOOM lyrics in a studio. DOOM’s latest album Born Like This disgustingly good – “Give a MC a rectal hysterectomy/Lecture on removal of the bowel, foul technically,” “Chrome grown men doin’ business with Anglo Sax’n'em/Lackin’ swing but that banjo’s so relaxin’,” “Villain knot his hair, he’s no Afro-American/If that’s the case, he be a bald-headed African,” and “…don’t know what he sayin’ but the words be funny.”
1) I’m gonna be participating in a free afternoon talk @ The New School tomorrow, “What Was The Hipster?” I’ll be joined by Mark Grief, editor of n+1, and Christian Lorentzen of Harper’s. info

2) US people — Soot’s rising star El Hijo de la Cumbia has the iTunes US Latin Single of the Week! Go Now to grab his “Soy El Control” hit for free. and feel free to grab the whole album while there….
Terius Nash aka The Dream in the studio. This guy is a BEAST. His past two albums are crazy, pretty much all I’ve been listening to for a while. The fact that he’s making shit this fast should just make everyone else quake in fear. He deserves his hype. Shouts to Kingdom via Twitter for the link. I’m on there too. Tweet tweet tweet.
The Fader says: “We’ve been following the individual trails of Brooklyn’s own power-chatter 77Klash and beatmaker extraordinaire Matt Shadetek for a real hot minute, as musical innovators of the biggest borough and as style inspirers (shout to Klash’s reversible multicolor vest and purple button-down he wore during his special live performance on FADER Radio in Austin. Individually, we sweat them, but together, they make a transcendent kind of bass-laden magic (see: ““Brooklyn Anthem“). This new Klash track with the evil grimey deez by Shadetek is the Jamaican-influenced equivalent of two fuzzy eyebrows slanted downward in a mean face, or maybe just the sound of your huge crew rolling up to the park in like, five trucks. We will roll with you, dudes! ”
It’s that time of year in Budapest. Sunglasses, legs, and the wonderful ice cold soda water and white wine fröccs. If there’s anything in the youth landscape here that says “emerging economy” its the prevalence of a water downed wine drink that comes in (according to a friend) ten ratios including the “artist’s” which is 1 part wine to 9 parts water. It’s hard to imagine why I’ve spent a minute inside since the temperature hit 70 a few days ago…
Listening to the amazing set of mixes that Gex and Lamin and Matt have put out in the last month made me get over my turntable fetish and start fucking with Ableton….. Samizdat is the result. I dare you to find or put out another mix that includes both drone-doom gods Earth and Times Square Blue evoking Leif

Thanks again to everyone who came out last time. We’re doing it again. We’re always looking for people doing things that we like and can vibe with in NYC to link up and get rainforesty with us. This time our guest is new signee to Diplo’s Mad Decent label Maluca. Those who were there last time know what I’m saying, I tried to lean on the wall behind the DJ booth and nearly busted my ass it was so slippery. Shoutouts to Contessa hosting and NY Remezcla on promotional support.
